Hello to whoever is following my reviews, but also to those who just click here when I spam my blog’s link on tiwtter (I realli appreciate it)! It was a pretty busy day yesterday, so I didn’t post anything and since today I have finished my duty as an editor I wanted to relax: so I thought why don’t udpdate the blog? And here I am! With a reeeeally nice work in my hands. The name of today’s review is Bokura no Fushigi na Koijijou by Katsuragi. You may know of this mangaka thanks to her other translated works: Negaigoto wa Hidamari de, Seishun Catharsis and Kimi Nashi ja Irarenai. If not, I really recommend to read them. They’re sooo cute! As cute as the one I’m going to talk about now.
[jumps in excitement!!!]
I want to spend a few words on this project because I personally find it extremely interesting and I am really speachless(???). The art is pretty, I love sensei’s characters round faces. At some point, near the end of the manga, I even thought they were similar to Haruko Kumota’s style. Not implying anything, ‘kay? I just find the styles very similar.
The stories in this manga are three. Each of them are very peculiar. Not the plots you’d imagine a yaoi would have. Before talking about the plots, I want to spend a few words on the yaoi part, too. I’m pretty sure that after reading tons of yaoi mangas this one cannot be described as one. More than a yaoi I’d say it’s a shounen ai, because there are few fluffy and cute scenes, sex is just roughed out. Kisses are very cute and I still think you should all read this manga just for this reason. ww. Let’s hope some nice scanlation team will translate it asap.
The first two stories are linked to cats. You shall find out by yourself what does this mean, though, because I’m a mean person. >:^) The first story is basically fluff all the time with a bit of an n flavour. The two main characters are seen going around a building in the middle of the night and for one reason or another they hold hands and kiss each other. Pretty cute, listen to this old hag!
The second story is more supernatural. It features a boy who is possessed (I’m not sure, though?) by a cat and is taken care by the main character’s “friend”. I find it myself really difficult to put story #2 into words, I’m sorry!!! I’ll leave some pics, though!!! Btw it’s a happy ending! Worry not! Everything’s gonna be like it wasl~
What about the third story? Well, what can I say: cats. I found lots of cats in this story, too. I think sensei really likes them, or just wanted to put them everywhere. I’m more a dog person, but that’s not really important, isn’t it?
Anyway, this is the story that makes me doubt about this being a shounen ai or simply a yaoi. I wonder? We’re gonna found it out only by living(??)~ [flies away]
